IP address lookup

IP lookup

Paste any public IPv4 or IPv6 to see approximate location, ISP, ASN and privacy signals. This page is for looking up an address — your own public IP is on the homepage.

Detecting your public IP…

IP locations are approximate network estimates. Queries are processed at Cloudflare's edge and full visitor IP addresses are not retained in application storage.

How to look up an IP

  1. On /ip-lookup, paste a public IPv4 or IPv6. Private and invalid addresses are rejected.
  2. Results include country/city at network granularity, ISP, ASN, and VPN, proxy or Tor signals.
  3. Your own public address is on the homepage. For scripts use curl https://ipkit.dev/<ip>.
  4. Do not treat the result as a street address or proof of identity.

IP lookup vs “what is my IP”

“What is my IP” detects the address websites see from your connection. IP lookup takes an address you type or pass to the API, such as 8.8.8.8. Both use the same geolocation, ASN and VPN/proxy/Tor fields. Locations are network estimates, not street addresses. curl https://ipkit.dev/8.8.8.8 returns ipkit.v1 JSON. IP address lookup is for an address you type or pass to the API, not the one this browser currently presents. That keeps “what is my IP” on the homepage and “ip address lookup” on this URL. Paste 8.8.8.8 to see Google Public DNS metadata as an example. Private ranges are rejected. JSON clients should call https://ipkit.dev/<ip> rather than scraping this HTML.

ipkit.v1 JSON fields

HTML and curl share the same record. Field names stay in English so scripts can parse one schema. Values are network estimates, not a street address or identity.

schema
Always ipkit.v1 so clients can detect breaking changes.
ip
The public address that was detected or requested.
type
IPv4 or IPv6.
source
ipregistry for full intel, or cloudflare when only edge metadata is available.
location.country
Registered country for the network, not a street address.
location.city
City at network granularity when the provider has one.
location.timezone
IANA timezone tied to the geolocation guess.
network.asn
Autonomous system number announcing the prefix.
network.organization
ISP or organization name for that ASN.
security.vpn
Whether the provider flags a VPN.
security.proxy
Whether the provider flags a proxy.
security.tor
Whether the provider flags a Tor exit.
security.risk
low, medium, high or unknown — a signal, not proof for blocking.

FAQ

Can I look up any IP?

Yes. Public IPv4 and IPv6. Private and invalid addresses are rejected.

Does lookup show a street address?

No. Results are approximate network geolocation plus ISP/ASN metadata.

Is there a JSON API?

Yes. curl https://ipkit.dev/<ip> or /api/ip/<ip>.

Do you create a page for every IP?

No. Lookup stays on /ip-lookup and the JSON API. Thin HTML per address would duplicate content and waste crawl budget.
